Every autumn, thousands of flying fox bats visit Mallacoota to feed off the bloodwoods which produce big blousy white flowers full of nectar at this time of year. While the fire of NYE 2019 damaged the bats' source of food, the bloodwoods are now back in flower and bat numbers are increasing. This photo was taken on 24 March as a full moon rose just as the bats were setting off on their nightly feed. It was taken with a Nikon P900, f/5.6, 1/500 sec, iso 360.
